Sunset Photography at TradeWinds
Sunset is by far the most popular time for beach photography.
The Gulf Coast is known for its vibrant sunsets, and the hour before sunset provides beautiful light for portraits. While many photographers struggle to properly expose both the people and the colorful sky, I use professional lighting techniques to preserve the rich colors of the sunset while making sure everyone looks their best. That’s what makes my work different from most photographers in the area.
I also incorporate natural light throughout the session for those easy, relaxed, candid moments—when everyone is laughing, chasing waves, fixing wind-blown hair, or pretending they definitely weren’t just told to smile five seconds ago.
And yes—kids are absolutely my favorite part of this whole thing. I fully embrace the beach chaos. If someone needs a snack break, a quick pep talk, or a spontaneous game of “let’s race to that palm tree,” I’m already in. Some of the best moments happen right in the middle of the silliness, and that’s exactly what makes those photos feel real.
